Plane Ride

Hey friends!

I am in Abbotsford, BC this week for some training with my employee. I will be engaging in discussions with some of my co-workers from across Canada, I will be receiving some top notch training, and I will be reconnecting with old friends. :)

As much as I am looking forward to this time, I am also feeling pretty tired. Traveling is fun sometimes, but it can also be tiring with the different time zones and long days. I can attest, having an opportunity to travel is such a blessing... but at the same time... I miss being home in Ottawa... and staying put longer than a couple of weeks...

Please pray that this week:

- I would hear from God with regards to my personal life, as well as for my direction and purpose as a leader in ministry.
- I would be re-energized while at this conference with a renewed vision for ministry!
- I would continue to see more financial support come in! (I saw $130/month come in last week, I now need $570 before Aug!) Praise God!

Thanks so much for your continued prayers and support!

Here's some Phil to enjoy your Tuesday... :)

Strong Cheese

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMidSZ_Idos

I've spent this past week working out like this mouse :) ... at bootcamp.... aka.. I have been spending hours in front of my computer and on my phone.

Why you ask?

This is the time of year when missionaries such as myself, hit the pavement and try to raise as much financial and prayer support as possible, so that we can pay our bills, have a solid prayer covering, and focus on the ministry for the next year. In our organization we refer to this as "ministry partnership development," or simply MPD.

I call this season bootcamp, because this aspect of ministry gives me tough skin; it teaches me perseverance; it gathers brothers and sisters in Christ to come around me; it humbles me; and it forces me to get on my face.

It's not easy.

Every year it causes me to ask myself... "is it really worth it?"... "do I really believe this..?" Raising my own support would have chased me away from ministry *long* ago if it wasn't for a strong conviction that Jesus is the world's hero and too many people are lost without Him, that what I do on campus is actually changing the world, and if it wasn't for brothers and sisters in Christ giving me timely encouragement... (another reason why supporters are so important to our minsitry! We need people to cheer us on in the dark hours!)

Through this process I have seen God provide thousands of dollars in astounding ways. I have met some of my best and most encouraging friends through support appointments. On one occasion I was even invited to Parliament Hill to speak to and encourage some of the Christian Members of Parliament! Even though it's tough, it's also exciting! Which is a lot like most good things in life.

Since my last post I've seen God provide another $90 of monthly support! Wahooo! I have 6 appointments set up so far for this week! I have a two week conference that I am required to go to starting July 20th, so I am trying to do as much as possible before I leave for the conference.
Unfortunately, as some of you may not know, I won't be able to minister on the campuses full time in September unless I see it all come in before the end of Aug!

So please pray with me!!!

1.) Please pray that I would meet more people that would be excited to join my support team, both as financial partners and prayer partners.
2.) Please pray that I would continue trust God with this aspect of our ministry.
3.) Please pray that through this season in ministry God would make me a woman of faith!

Thank you so much!

Until next Tuesday... this is where I am... on assignment... bootcamp. (sigh!)

"To the hilt!!!"

New Beginnings.

Andy is good at telling people the truth. Andy is my pastor. So far he's had some good pieces of advice....Sometimes it's advice... Sometimes it's just things I know I should be doing, but I'm not doing...but that's why he's my Pastor.

"Margie, you need to find friends in Ottawa that aren't students." (3 years ago)..."Margie, you need to get involved with Bridges" (a ministry to homeless in Ottawa). (2 years ago)..."Margie, you need to take a public speaking course." (3 years ago)...Actually I haven't done this yet!..."Margie, you need to get involved in a small group in our church." (10 months ago)..."Margie/Liz/Angela a good way to prepare for marriage is by keeping your rooms clean." ....He said this to my non-student friends, while we were hosting a church small group at our house. (6 months ago)

Today he said:

"Margie... why don't you have a blog? You need to keep your supporters updated on your ministry. They want to pray for you and know what's going on. It's free. It's easy. It communicates your life to your supporters. Why aren't you already doing this?"

Okay... Andy, I relent, this was another good piece of advice.

So...

This is the beginning of my new blog.

Sorry for teasing you guys last time...(back in 2008!) by telling you I was going to write a blog about our adventures on campus, and then I totally dropped the ball. Last time it was a bit of an experiment. This time I'll put it in my schedule.

I want to get better at keeping you guys updated with prayer requests and flash breaking news reports from our Campus Ministry.

I love you guys and feel so blessed to have you in my corner. I want you to feel like you're right here with me.

Some of you may be wondering... "Where is her update about North Africa...?" Well, I just sent out my most recent update letter with fantastic nail-biting stories. Stories that involve wild dreams, answered prayer through stray dogs, incredible words from North African students, and "the Most important lesson I've ever learned about leadership!". You should get it in the mail tomorrow. :D

Here's what I've been up to since April (in case your curious or need a refresher), and my summer plans:

May 3rd- June 16th- Student Mission's Project in Africa
June 16th- June 21st- Holidays
June 21st- July 19th- Raising Support/ Meeting with Supporters
July 19th- July 30th- Training/Conference in Vancouver
Aug1st- Aug 16th- Raising Support/ Meeting with Supporters
Aug 16th- Our Ottawa Team meets up, and we begin our work back on campus

Here are some quick prayer requests for this week:

1.) I have $700 of monthly support to raise between now and the end of Aug. My goal is to see $150 come in before I leave July 19th.

2.) My parents are moving to Thailand in two weeks, they will be there for at least 2 years! Please pray for them (and for me!)

3.) Please pray for God to prepare me with Vision and PASSION as I prepare to head back to campus in just 5 weeks to start my 10th year in campus ministry (... I know I don't look that old... I'm actually not.. I just counted my four years as a student!)

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! Once again...!

Until next Tuesday...

Over and out.
